6 good reasons to love autumn and its downloadable sticker sheet

Autumn is gradually settling in here in Italy, although on some days temperatures soar in the afternoon, heralding a fine Indian summer. After summer, the arrival of this season can be a little depressing. Gone are the warmth, the idleness, the terraces, the ice creams, the holidays. But for me, autumn is my favourite season, and I'm going to tell you why...

Autumn isn't all cold, rain and gloom - quite the opposite. It's also full of little pleasures and pretty things like :

Nice walks

What a joy it's been to walk in the forest alongside the vines these days. With all those leaves in full transition, mixing with yellow, orange and red. A real feast for the eyes. The magic is short-lived, but that's what makes it unique and precious, I think. The temperatures remain pleasant, allowing us to enjoy nature a little longer.

Bundle up in cosy jumpers

Personally, in autumn I get out my cosy jumpers, my big slippers and my soft pyjamas. I call it my "kit moumoute" :-) In the evening, with a good herbal tea while I'm reading or watching a film, it's pure bliss and super relaxing.

The return of candles

Although I also burn candles in summer, I do so much less than in autumn and winter. As soon as autumn arrives, there's that cosy effect that sets in and putting candles in your home is just so much fun. I love the gourmand, warm and spicy scents. Speaking of which, have you heard of the autumnal 'Yankee Candles'? I discovered this range when we lived in England and these candles are really incredible. The winter range is also fantastic, I love them!

Gourmet and comforting autumn recipes

At this time of year, I love making hot chocolates with little marshmallows, cinnamon porridges, apple crumbles and carrot and pumpkin veloutés. And soon we'll be back to baking Christmas biscuits. An activity I love doing with my children.

Halloween

It's a great time to get out our little pumpkins, decorate them and put up decorations. Every year, the kids come up with all kinds of new things and it colours the house to perfection. All that's left is to get out the make-up, costumes and candy jar!

Preparing for Christmas

Winter begins on 21 December, which means that autumn is all about getting ready for Christmas! Making Santa's list and browsing the shops for ideas for young and old. Looking at all those windows full of glitter, red, gold and silver. I love this time of sharing with family and friends. Delicious meals, garlands of lights, decorating the tree. Just simple, magical moments. We're not there yet, but I'm starting to look forward to it.
